Sudarshan Sahoo, a non-traditional sculptor, is a well-known Sand Sculptor in India and also Internationally for his significant contribution to sculpting art. He first began practicing the art form on wood and stone at his ancestral home in Puri. He chose to build up a workshop and a showroom where artists may develop their own artwork and present it to art enthusiasts after traveling the length and breadth of India and knowing the various features of sculptural art in different locations.

In 1977, he and other modern artists founded this museum, which has helped numerous artists become established sculptors. For many years, the museum has been exporting handicrafts outside of India and has been supported and acknowledged by the government.
